Egypt U-23 national team coach Hany Ramzy has revealed that he has narrowed down his choice for three over-age players for the squad to five candidates.
The team is made up of Egyptians aged 23 or younger, but international rules allow for three exceptions.
"I have named Abou-Treika, Fathi, Meteb, Zaki and Ahmed Eid to join the Olympic team making preparations for the London games," Ramzy told Egypt's Modern Sport TV channel on Wednesday night, after the team's 3-0 loss to Netherlands in Toulon's friendly tournament.
"I will pick only three over-age players, as the rules permit, according to the positions in which the team needs to be strengthened," he added.
"Shikabala was among the players to be recalled but his conflict with Zamalek's coach means he is banned from wearing the Olympic jersey."
Under the helm of Hany Ramzy, the young Pharaohs are preparing for the 2012 London Olympics.
They will face Brazil, Belarus and New Zealand in Group C.
