European Champions Chelsea have stepped up their interest in signing in-form Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia.

The English daily newspaper The Daily Mail reported that the Blues are ready to make their bid on Doumbia, who is valued at around  £26 million.

The club owner, Roman Abramovich, is reportedly ready to go on a spending spree this summer to rebuilt his aging team.

The 24-year-old Doumbia joined CSKA Moscow in summer 2010 and took the Russian league by storm.

Player of the year and top scorer of the Swiss league in 2009 and 2010, Doumbia has also been crowned player of the year in Russia in 2011 and claimed the Golden Boot of the Russian Premier League in 2011/2012.

He helped the Moscow giants claim the Russian Cup in 2011, but they are unlikely to keep him as interest grows among big European clubs.
