Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sid the United States will continue to support Egypt no matter what the outcome of the ongoing presidential elections will be.
"Regardless of the results of the [presidential] elections, the Egyptian people will continue in their ambition to achieve their aspirations, and the United States will continue to support the Egyptian people and all other peoples of the world who aspire to achieve the same outcome," said Clinton in her opening speech on the release of the annual US Department of State human rights report of 2011, of which the Arab Spring took a sizeable part.
The US administration has on several occasions said it would accept the elections results even if Islamists assumed power.
