The committee also decided that unvaccinated citizens will not be allowed to enter any government facility starting 1 December.
In addition, the committee decided to allow the opening of mosque bathrooms starting Wednesday
Mosque bathrooms were ordered to close in March 2020 as part of the government’s precautionary measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The committee also allocated EGP 1 billion to expenses stemming from the coronavirus pandemic.
During the meeting, Health Minister Hala Zayed presented the latest developments in the pandemic, especially concerning vaccines.
According to Zayed, Egypt has a stock of 63.2 million vaccine doses from AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Sinovac/VACSERA, Sputnik, Moderna and Pfizer.
She added that Egypt will receive 7.8 million doses in October from AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer in addition to 2 million doses of the Sinovac/VACSERA vaccine which will be produced weekly in cooperation between Chinese Sinovac and Egypt's state-owned VACSERA.
Egypt received more than 1.6 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine on Saturday as a gift from the United States.
Zayed stated that another five freezers intended to store the Pfizer vaccine were added to the ministry’s warehouses in Helwan to receive more shipments.
Regarding the overall vaccination campaign, Zayed stated that so far 31.7 million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.
Concerning the situation in universities, Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar stated that 1.2 million vaccine doses have been administrated in 60 universities nationwide for students and staff members.
