Activist finds voting ballots marked for Sabbahi in sugar cane bushes
Abu Bakr Abdel Rahman El-Rawy, a member of Social Alliance Party in Qena governorate, has said he has in his possession 15 voter ballots from the first round of presidential elections that took place 23-24 May marked for Hamdeen Sabbahi, found thrown in sugar cane bushes close to Garagos polling station in Qoos.
El-Rawy told the Ahram news portal that he was surprised to find the ballots in a black plastic bag Saturday, and that they belong to Al-Salam and Al-Obour schools, and were all marked for Sabbahi. He added that he found hundreds of such voting ballots, but people in the neighborhood gathered around him and many managed to grab the ballots from him.
Abbas Gaber, Sabbahi's campaign coordinator, said that the Sabbahi campaign will report the case immediately.
Nasserist candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi, the favoured contender among revolutionary voters, fought an impressive electoral rearguard action, finishing a not-so-distant third with 4,739,983 votes.
