BREAKING: Unidentified assailants attack protesters chanting against election results in Tahrir

Unknown thugs attack peaceful protesters who had gathered in Tahrir Square to oppose the presidential election results which sent Shafiq and Morsi to a final on 16 and 17 June

At around 11:25pm on Monday night, unknown assailants attacked protesters, who were chanting against election results in Tahrir, with stones and sticks.

Earlier on Monday evening, unknown individuals set presidential contestant Ahmed Shafiq's campaign headquarters in Dokki, Cairo on fire. Security forces arrested some individuals suspected of starting the blaze.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters had taken to the streets in the cities of Cairo and Alexandria to protest the elections results which left the Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi and Mubarak-era PM Ahmed Shafiq the two finalists in a runoff set for 16 and 17 June.
