In a cabinet meeting on Tuesday chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Zayed said that 32 million doses have been administered to citizens.

Zayed highlighted the ministry’s efforts to secure the logistics necessary for the circulation of the vaccines throughout the country, noting that preparations are underway to receive five four-wheel-drive vehicles equipped to transport vaccines in cooperation with UNICEF.

Zayed said the vehicles will play a vital role in transporting vaccines to Egypt’s remote governorates.

Egypt – which is witnessing the peak of the fourth coronavirus wave – has obtained more than 63 million vaccine doses since the start of the vaccination campaign last January, according to earlier remarks by the health minister.

The country’s total number of deaths from the coronavirus has reached 18,015 fatalities, as the country registered 45 fatalities on Monday; the highest daily rise in coronavirus deaths since 7 June.

The health ministry also reported 883 new coronavirus cases on the same day, the country’s highest single-day rise since 3 June, raising the infection tally to 319,339 since the outbreak began in February 2020.

On Sunday, the coronavirus high committee announced that unvaccinated employees would not be allowed to enter their workplaces after 15 November unless they receive a PCR test every week.

Moreover, the committee decided that unvaccinated citizens would not be allowed to enter any government facility starting 1 December.
