Egypt reports 883 new coronavirus cases, 46 deaths on Thursday

Egypt reported 883 new coronavirus cases on Thursday bringing the total infection tally officially to 321,967 since the outbreak began in February 2020, said Health Ministry in its daily coronavirus update statement.

Egypt’s Health Ministry reported in its daily coronavirus statement that 46 new deaths related to Covid-19 complications were recorded officially in the past 24 hours nationwide, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 18,151.

The statement added that 819 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries 271,792.

Earlier Thursday Minister Hala Zayed discussed a meeting with the General Manager of Chinese Sinovac's Life Sciences Company Gao Qiang to discuss the transfer of vaccine manufacturing technology to Egypt.

Egypt is currently producing Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine according to an agreement between Sinovac and Stated-owned Holding Company for Biological Products and Vaccines (VACSERA) to meet the needs of the local market as well as to export to African markets.
