Programme: Italian Cultural Institute launches Breaking Walls Dance Film Festival in Cairo

Dance films from several countries will be screened at the Italian Cultural Institute in Zamalek as part of the first edition of the ‘Breaking Walls Dance Film Festival’ that will be taking place between 27 and 31 October.

The film festival is part of a larger festival that includes numerous other activities called the ‘Breaking Walls Festival’ which will hold its fourth edition at the same time.

The films that will be screened are from Egypt, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Denmark, Netherlands, France, and Argentina.

Entry into the festival is free, however, reservations need to be made through the event’s link.

The event will be adhering to the COVID-19 precautionary measures, which include social distancing, sanitising, and obligatory face masks.

Day 1: Wednesday 27 October

- Opening ceremony
- ‘MANFADA’ (Denmark/Egypt)
- ‘Suspended’ (Italy)
- ‘Origin’ (Egypt)
- ‘Between Heaven and Home’ (Egypt)

Day 2: Thursday 28 October
- ‘Homing in on Home’ (Italy/UK)
- ‘The Four Walls’ (Egypt)
- ‘TabulaRasa’ (Egypt/Argentina)
- ‘FTHM’ (Egypt/USA)

Day 3: Friday 29 October
- ‘The Pavlova Trilogy’ (Netherlands/Poland)
- ‘Egypt Dances’ (Egypt/USA)

Day 4: Saturday 30 October
- ‘Chers’ (Japan/France)
- ‘TRIXIE’ (Switzerland)

Day 5: Sunday 31 October
- ‘Festa de Noantri’ (Italy/Egypt)
- Live-Performances by Hazem Header, Maciej Beczek, and Aly Essa
