The Egyptian King was at his devastating best as Liverpool demolished United, scoring twice after the break and completing his hat-trick five minutes into the second half.

He also set up Naby Keita for a fifth-minute opener to continue his blistering start to the season.

"I think it is great to win 5-0 away. We knew before the game it was going to be tough if we didn't play our game and if we didn't play our football," Salah told Sky Sports following Sunday's clash.

"We had in our head that we had to give 100% and we had to dominate the game and I think we did it. To be fair as much as the team keeps winning, I am more than happy so I am always trying to give assists.

"First one I could have gone alone but I chose to give it to Naby so I think I am trying to always give my best for the team to win which is the most important thing."

Salah became the leading African scorer in Premier League history with 107 goals, three ahead of former Ivory Coast and Chelsea marksman Didier Drogba.

He is the first player to score a hat-trick at Old Trafford since Brazilian great Ronaldo, who netted three goals for Real Madrid in a European Champions League game in 2003.

The 29-year-old found the net for a club record-extending 10th successive game to take his Premier League tally to 10 goals, three clear of Leicester City striker Jaime Vardy on top of the competition's scoring chart.
