Fourth and fifth generation wars no longer rely on arms alone, but also "on awareness and understanding," the president said at the graduation ceremony of military graduates in Cairo today.
El-Sisi urged the graduates to be aware of the developments taking place, saying "you are about to start a new experience. You will be responsible for others, in addition to yourselves… you will be responsible for preparing and raising awareness of [the subordinates]."
El-Sisi reiterated the necessity of "remembering the martyrs and injured who sacrificed their lives and still do in defence of their homeland."
"This is the order of the day: the mission of the police and army is to protect the country and the people," he added.
Cadets from the Military Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Naval Academy, the Military Technical College, the Air Defence Academy, Military Medical College, and the Technical Institute for Military Forces took part in the graduation ceremony.
The president honoured top graduates of different military colleges, saluting their families for devoting their sons to the protection of Egypt and the Egyptians.
The cadets held parades to show their combat skills in handling different targets. They gave a sports show to display their physical fitness and took an oath before the president to protect the homeland and the Egyptian people.
Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki and a host of senior state officials attended the ceremony.
