Pyramids — who will be making their third Confederation Cup appearance — reached the tournament’s playoff round with a 1-0 on aggregate win over Tanzania’s Azam.

The big-spending team joined fellow Egyptian side Masry in the next round after the latter also defeated Uganda’s Revenue Authority 1-0 on aggregate.

According to the draw that was held at the CAF’s headquarters in Cairo on Tuesday, the first leg matches of the Confederation Cup playoff round will be played between 26 and 28 November while the second leg will take place between 3 and 5 December.

The return leg matches will be played in the home of the Confederation Cup qualified sides.

The Confederation Cup’s additional second preliminary round will see the 16 teams qualified from the Confederation Cup’s second preliminary round, facing the 16 teams relegated from the CAF Champions League.

The Emirati-owned Pyramids reached the 2019-20 Confederation Cup final but lost to Morocco’s RS Berkane 1-0. They were the victims of another Moroccan outfit a year later, slumping to a shootout defeat by Raja in the semi-final following a 0-0 aggregate draw.

Masry, on the other hand, last participated in the 2019-20 edition of the tournament, where they were eliminated from the quarterfinals by RS Berkane as well.
