Al-Wehda's new Egyptian tactician Beshier Abdel-Samad asked the Saudi side to sign Egypt and Ahly defender Wael Gomaa when the summer transfer window reopens, Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadh claimed.
"Management will negotiate with Ahly to sign the defender so he can support the team next season," the Saudi newspaper said.
The 36-year-old Gomaa is currently suffering from a knee injury he sustained during the CAF Champions League game against Malian side Stade Malien in round 16 of the championship.
The CAF best African defender played for Qatari side Al-Siliya in 2008.
