Egypt is using China's Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines in its mass-vaccination campaign.

Egypt has purchased 10 million doses of Chinese vaccines, Liao said.

Egypt's VACSERA has signed an agreement to manufacture Sinovac vaccines under the name Sinovac/VACSERA locally to use in its vaccination program and for export to African countries.

Egypt is expected to buy more than 100 million doses of vaccines this year, according to him.

Egyptian-Chinese bilateral relations have reached a new level since the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, given the fact that Egypt and China have been supporting each other, Liao added.

Egypt has managed so far to vaccinate around 24 million people against the coronavirus, according to health officials. The government has set a goal of vaccinating 40 million people by the end of 2021.
