DECIDING to initiate its sports investments in Egypt, Roland Garros announced the inauguration of the Roland Garros Sports and Social Club, to be established at the Sports City of Al-Mostakbal (Future City) located in the northern part of the New Administrative Capital. Roland Garros is considered one of the largest sports investments in Egypt.
During the inauguration ceremony, the club’s founding contracts were signed under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the presence of Roland Garros officials in addition to Ismail Al-Shafei, president of the Egyptian Tennis Federation and former tennis star, and the representatives of the club’s three establishing companies, including Zahed Al-Battarni, CEO of Mohammad Omar Bin Haider (MOBH) Holding Group and Assem Fadel and Bernardo Bessi, representatives of Roland Garros Clubs.
“After witnessing the stability and developments projects going along in Egypt under the leadership of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, we have decided to move our investment projects here as it is a great opportunity for us as MOBH Holding Group to be engaged in such a mega project with a French partnership and on Egyptian soil,” Al-Battrani said, commenting on the occasion.
Roland Garros Club investment plans include constructing various sports facilities as stadiums and a sports centre in addition to hotels, international schools, an integrated medical centre and tennis sports academies as well as numerous other academies in various sports, according to the latest international standards.
The 44-acre club will include the largest tennis stadium in the world with a capacity of 25,000 spectators, and a second tennis stadium capable of hosting 17,000 spectators, in addition to training facilities and football pitches that are to be established in accordance with FIFA standards.
