Egypt s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi delivers virtual remarks during an exceptional meeting of the Arab Intelligence Forum in Cairo, 9 November 2021. Egyptian Presidency
Speaking virtually during an extraordinary meeting of the forum, which gathered intelligence chiefs of Arab countries, the Egyptian president said the principle of joint responsibility to tackle regional challenges needs the adoption of comprehensive approaches to tackle regional crises.
El-Sisi affirmed that these comprehensive approaches should focus on ending foreign interference in the Arab region’s affairs, and respecting Arab countries’ sovereignty and national institutions as well as popular will, a statement by Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady read.
This should stop the terrorist and takfiri organisations from taking advantage of these crises and their repercussions, El-Sisi said.
“The president affirmed that Egypt had not and will not spare any effort to assist its brothers in crossing with their countries to safety through the comprehensive political solution,” Rady said.
This solution should include simultaneous steps and measures that are based on unifying each country’s military institution, the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries, ending the presence of armed militias, and activating the will of peoples, El-Sisi explained.
Arab intelligence chiefs attending the meeting highlighted the importance of the forum as a firm mechanism that supports close intelligence cooperation among Arab states.
They also affirmed that the forum contributes to establishing a comprehensive and tight system to combat terrorism, which is based on integrating roles, exchanging expertise, and continuous development of confrontation mechanisms.
This will help protect the Arab national security and achieve the desired aspirations of the Arab people, the intelligence chiefs added.
El-Sisi hailed the efforts made by the intelligence delegations partaking in the meeting since the forum was established.
These efforts enhance joint Arab cooperation in the security and information fields, he added.
Egypt held the first meeting of the forum in February 2020 as the first of its kind in the region.
Under the auspices of President El-Sisi, Egypt also hosted earlier this week an international judicial conference on the role of prosecution in combatting transnational crimes with the presence of top African and Arab prosecutors.
The Egyptian Public Prosecution also hosted the 15th annual meeting of Africa’s top prosecutors and the first annual meeting of top Arab prosecutors between 7 to 9 November.
