“Alexandria, Once Upon a Time, Alexandria, Once Upon a Time” a new decade of the Alexandrian Heritage Days. In 2021, we wish to look to the past, but also to the future: Alexandria, once upon a time,
Alexandria it will be once. Alexandria, during these 2,400 years of history has presented many faces, both in its extension and in its neighborhoods, in its population as in its religions, in its writings, its literature, but also its music and its arts. The major dates of political, social and economic history are combined with the major dates of scientific, artistic or literary inventions. It comes down to
each of the partners to choose and present the portrait of the city that is most dear to them or to imagine the city in the future (12-22 November).

Main Hall

“1798-1801: The scientists of the Egyptian Expedition draw Alexandria” exhibition is held as part of Alexandrian Heritage Days programme.

In his conquest of Egypt in 1798, Bonaparte was accompanied by some 160 scholars and artists from all disciplines. Through the preparatory drawings for the “Description of Egypt”, we discover the panoramas of Alexandria, the ancient monuments and the city of the end of the 18th century, as they observed and drawn them. You are invited to get to know better the dozen men who stayed in Alexandria for a
few days, weeks or months, or sometimes longer and designed it (opening 14 November).
