The concerts, which mark the opening of the New Opera's main hall in the Administrative Capital's City of Arts and Culture, will feature works by Schubert, Stravinsky, Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Mozart.

During his visit to Cairo's archaeological sites, Muti expressed his happiness to stand in front of the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx.

The tour also included the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, the newest museum in the country whose halls host a collection of objects that relay the history of Egypt since prehistoric times to modern era.

Vienna Philharmonic's arrival to Egypt 70 years later comes at the end of the orchestra’s international tour across Far East, where it recently performed across numerous cities in Korea, Japan and China.

The ensemble first visited Egypt in the 1950s, an experience that has not been repeated since, according to the official press release announcing the Vienna Philharmonic’s concert in Egypt.
