95% of education ministry employees vaccinated against coronavirus: Ministry

Egypt's Ministry of Education announced on Wednesday that 95 percent of its employees have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The ministry said that some 1.5 million employees in all educational directorates nationwide have been vaccinated.

The ministry added that 55,486 employees, who represent 3 percent of employees, are currently registered to receive the vaccine, and 27,613 employees (2 percent) have medical conditions preventing them from taking the vaccine.

Egypt has so far administrated 44.2 million shots, according to Higher Education Minister and acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar.

Abdel-Ghaffar added that Egypt has secured a total of 80.5 million doses of all WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines.

On Wednesday, the government approved administering a third booster shot for the most vulnerable groups in the country.

Egypt has so far recorded a total of 352,123 coronavirus infections, including 20,052 deaths and 292,655 recoveries.
