Sufi chanting troupe ‘Al-Hadra’ will be bringing some Islamic traditional Zikr (Remembrance of God) to the stage on 25 December at El-Sawy Culturewheel in Zamalek.

“A pure, spiritual experience. Your spirits will be lifted by the Al-Hadra Troupe for Islamic Sufi chanting,” wrote the group, inviting fans to attend.

Founded by Nour Nageh more than six years ago, the Sufi devotees will perform their renditions of classical standard Arabic Sufi poems, accompanied by a percussion section and a number of oriental instrumentalists.

The term ‘Hadra’ is derived from the Arabic word ‘hodor’, which means presence. It usually refers to a circle of Sufi chanters who recite the Quran and praise Allah and the Prophet Muhammad.

Last year, Al-Hadra produced their first official video clip — filmed in Luxor — showcasing the authentic Egyptian art of Hajj Graffiti.

Furthermore, they arrange their own religious tours where they visit the famous ‘wallis’ (‘People of Faith’) as they perform in various Egyptian governorates.

Al-Hadra will also host an earlier performance on 10 December at El-Rab’e Cultural Centre in old Cairo’s historic Al-Moez Street.
