Hazem Shaheen and takht ensemble to perform at Arabic Music Institute

The oud player will be joined by five musicians in a unique concert at the Arabic Music Institute later this month.

Shaheen is known in the Egyptian world of music which he conquered with his oud and Eskenderella band that he founded in 2005.

This time, however, Shaheen will be accompanied by five musicians specialised in Oriental music: Hany Bedair on req, Hany El Badry on nay, Ahmed Amin on contrabas, Ahmed Kamary on kanoun and a violinist whose name is yet to be revealed.

The ensemble - known to represent a takht formation - will perform a number of compositions from Shaheen's repertoire in addition to works by Abdo Dagher, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, among others.
