“We will wait until Tuesday night’s training session to have the latest updates on our injured players,” Queiroz said in the pre-match press conference on Tuesday.

“I won’t pressure any of the injured players to play against Tunisia. We will only depend on the fully recovered ones,” the Portuguese coach added.

Egypt’s injured quartet, which includes keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi, defender Ahmed Hegazi, defender Ayman Ashraf, and midfielder Hamdi Fathi, are still following their rehabilitation programmes ahead of the anticipated game.

All four players have been key actors in the Pharaohs’ lineup, and coach Queiroz previously admitted that he will have limited choices in their absence.

Egypt had already lost injured defenders Hegazi and Ashraf ahead of last Saturday’s 3-1 comeback win over Jordan in the quarter-final; a game that witnessed El-Shennawi and Fathi joining the list of injured players.

Queiroz acknowledged that Tunisia will not be an easy opponent, but he insisted that he is confident his team will proceed to the Arab Cup final.

“Both teams are excellent, and this will make this game an exciting one,” Queiroz noted in Tuesday’s presser.

“We will do our best to reach the final. I am confident that my team will crown its efforts with a win on Wednesday.”

“Tunisia team has a great history, and the current squad is an excellent one… I think the game will be difficult for both teams,” he added.

Under the guidance of Queiroz, Egypt recently secured a place in the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, which will be played next March in a two-legged form against another group leader.

In late November, Queiroz said that he considers the Arab Cup a good test run for his team for both the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and the 2021 African Cup of Nations that is scheduled to be held in Cameroon between 9 January and 6 February.
