Kamal will be honoured during a special conference that will take place on 22 December in the Hanager Arts Centre on the grounds of the Cairo Opera House.
Born in 1959, Ahmed Kamal is one of Egypt's most well-known actors with a large experience of working in theatre, cinema and television series, where he created numerous memorable roles.
Having performed in theatre, Kamal's journey in film began in the 1980s, appearing in over 70 films and television series, such as El KitKat (1991), A Citizen, an Informer and a Thief (2001), Sadat's Days (2001), Sahar Al Layali (2003), Ghawi Hob (2005), Messages from the Sea (2010), Asmaa (2011), Haret El Yahood (2015), among others.
One of his most successful recent roles was in the short film Wintry Spring directed by Mohamed Kamel. The film participated in numerous international film festivals and won several awards, while Kamel scooped best actor award at the 48th Fotogramma d'Oro Film Festival in Italy.
Throughout his career Kamal has worked with many renowned directors of different generations: Daoud Abdel Sayed, Khairy Beshara, Mohamed Khan, Yousry Nasrallah, Ali Edris, Khaled El Hagar, Kamla Abu Zikry, Hala Khalil.
The Cairo Shorts Film Festival is scheduled to take place between 21 and 25 December screening films in the Creativity Centre and Hanager Theatre.
