Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp announced on Sunday that the club’s board are in advanced talks to extend the stay of the team’s Egyptian star winger Mohamed Salah.

Salah’s future at Anfield remains unclear amid continuous rumours about the failure of negotiations with the club’s management despite the Egyptian star still having less than two years remaining on his current contract.

Klopp stressed that he is not worried about the pace of the negotiations after British media reports claimed at the time that Liverpool are yet to meet Salah’s financial demands to prolong his stay.

Late in October, Salah said that he is keen on staying at Liverpool until the end of his career, but that his future at the club does not entirely depend on him.

“I said it before. I want to stay here, but it is up to the club to show they want me,” Salah commented in an MBC interview.

“It isn’t related to the money at all. Seeing Liverpool management ready to do anything to keep me is an important thing for me. Also, the team’s ambition and the coach’s desire [to keep me] are important as well,” he added.

Salah, 29, is enjoying a brilliant start with the Reds in the Premier League’s new season to take his tally to 22 goals in 23 matches played so far in all competitions.
