Newly-promoted Bundesliga club Greuther Furth announced on Tuesday that they have signed 17-year-old Ghanaian left-back Baba Rahman from Ghanaian champions Asanta Kotoko on a five-year deal.

Rahman is considered to be one of the rising stars of Ghanaian football and, according to Furth, was a target of other European clubs such as Chelsea and Napoli.

However, he opted to move to the Bundesliga because the Bavarian club offered him "the best conditions in which to develop my career."

Rahman is the captain of Ghana’s under-20 side.

Greuther Furth will play in the top tier of the Bundesliga next season after winning the second division title.
