Just when Raja where about to celebrate a looming win, thanks to an early goal from Hamid Ahadad, Ahly substitute Taher Mohamed Taher struck in the 90th minute to spark jubilant scenes at Al Rayyan Stadium.

The Red Devils then prevailed 6-5 on penalties to clinch a record-extending eighth African Super Cup title.

Ahly players were incensed at what they perceived Raja's time-wasting antics throughout the game, with the Moroccan side's players appearing to feign injuries on several occasions.

"If Raja played more they could have won, but they instead wasted time," Mosimane told beIN Sports in a pitch-side interview following the game.

In a nerve-wracking shootout, both sides converted their five spot kicks with some powerful shots that both keepers were unable to stop even when they guessed right.

However, Ahly settled the tie in their favour in the sudden death, with Akram Tawfik converting his penalty and Raja's Abdelilah Madkour blasting his effort astonishingly high over.

"We practiced penalties a lot and we cleverly dealt with it. We are Ahly, we have the spirit!" added Mosimane, who has won his fifth title since taking over at the club in October 2020.

Ahly, who won back-to-back African Champions League and Super Cup titles, are now five Super Cup triumphs clear of nearest challengers Zamalek.
