Trezeguet replaced Bertrand Traore with 10 minutes remaining for his first competitive appearance since suffering a knee ligament damage in a 2-1 defeat by Liverpool in April last year.
He could not spark a comeback though as Villa slumped to their second successive defeat after they lost 3-1 to Chelsea in their previous game last weekend.
Trezeguet is scheduled to join up with Egypt for their African Cup of Nations campaign after he was chosen in the Pharaohs' final squad for the biennial tournament.
It remains to be seen whether he can hold down a regular place though as he faces stiff competition from Stuttgart's on-loan winger Omar Marmoush.
"Trezeguet has big experience and I'm sure he will play a key role with the national team," Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz told a news conference on Sunday.
