The Egyptian champions have been missing key players who are away on national team duty, due to the new competition’s regulations that mandate it be held during international breaks.
Zamalek coach Patrice Carteron had to do without Tunisian duo Seifeddine Jaziri and Hamza Mathlouthi and Moroccan forward Achraf Bencharki in addition to six players who are with the Egyptian national team.
Enppi, who were also missing tireless left back Marwan Dawoud to international duty with the Pharaohs, maintained slightly better possession, but both sides were equal on chances.
In the 67th minute Enppi keeper Ibrahim El Balouti saved a penalty kick from Zamalek forward Youssef ‘Obama’ Ibrahim.
Seven minutes later Enppi striker John Ebuka blasted wide a penalty to end the game on a stalemate.
