Fattouh missed Egypt's group-stage wins over Guinea-Bissau and Sudan after picking up a calf muscle strain in the opening 1-0 loss to Nigeria.
Ahly's Ayman Ashraf, who can operate as a central defender or left back, took his place but could hardly make Fattouh's trademark inroads into the opposition half.
Zamalek's Fattouh is now available for selection, local media reported, although it remains unclear if Carlos Queiroz will start him against Ivory Coast.
El-Wensh also strained a muscle in the 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau, with rookie defender Mohamed Abdel-Moneim replacing him against Sudan and scoring an unlikely winner to send Egypt through to the last 16.
Zamalek's El-Wensh returned to individual training on Sunday but it's not yet clear if he can recover in time to feature against Ivory Coast on Wednesday.
