Egypt to experience ‘noticeable’ drop in temperatures, rainfall starting Wednesday

Egypt is expected to witness a noticeable drop in temperatures starting Wednesday, with chances of rainfall in the country’s north, especially Greater Cairo and Northern Upper Egypt, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecast.

Light to moderate rainfall is expected on parts of Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, and Sinai on Wednesday, and there is a 60 percent chance of light rainfall on Greater Cairo and Northern Upper Egypt.

An average wind speed of 60-70 kilometres per hour and an average wave height of 3-5 metres are expected to disturb navigation along the Red Sea on Wednesday, while an average wind speed of 50-60 kilometres per hour and an average wave height of 2.5-3.5 metres are expected along the Red Sea.

The EMA added that there is a 40 to50 percent chance of light rainfall on the northern coasts and Lower Egypt in the following four days.

Also, morning fog is expected from Friday to Sunday on highways to and from Greater Cairo, Upper and Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, Central Sinai, and Northern Upper Egypt, according to the EMA.
