The Pharaohs, who passed Cote d’Ivoire in round of 16, will be facing a highly anticipated quarter-final clash in the prestigious tournament against the Atlas Lions, who defeated Malawi at the same round.

The 26-year old El-Wensh wasn’t available for Egypt after being injured against Guinea-Bissau in the second round of the group stage.

According to a statement by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), midfielder Hamdi Fathi also appeared in sometime of Friday’s session. Also, injured goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi has already started his rehabilitation program.

El-Shennawi, 33, sustained a muscle strain during the shootout win over Cote d’Ivoire and his return date has not been set yet. Fathi, 27, was also substituted during the same game due to a muscular strain.

Forward Mohamed Sherif was also available in Friday’s training despite a minor injury that he picked in his lip against the Ivoirians.

The record seven-time African champions Egypt are seeking their first African Cup of Nations title since 2010.
