Emir Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber received President El-Sisi upon his arrival in the Gulf country.

The two leaders will address mutual security, economic, and development concerns, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune is also expected to arrive in Kuwait in an official visit on Tuesday, the Kuwaiti official news agency KUNA reported, with the three leaders expected to hold a trilateral summit.

On Sunday, El-Sisi held a meeting with Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim in Cairo after the conclusion of the 32nd Conference of Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union and fourth Arabic Parliament Conference.

Al-Ghanim conveyed the greetings of the Kuwaiti emir to El-Sisi and expressed Kuwait’s appreciation of the firm historic relations gathering the two countries.

He also stressed to El-Sisi Kuwait’s keenness to enhance consultations with Egypt on various issues in light of the pivotal role played by Egypt in the region as a main pillar for security and stability in the Arab world.

Egypt and Kuwait have shared warm relations at all levels, including in the political and diplomatic fields, for decades.

Kuwait has maintained firm support for Egypt’s water rights in the dispute with Ethiopia over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

Last December, Egypt and Kuwait marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in a celebration that was held in the Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo.

In a message delivered on his behalf at the event, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry said that bilateral relations between the two countries “were and will remain a unique model on all levels.”

Since 1961, Egypt and Kuwait have signed 105 agreements, including the 1995 agreement on forming a joint committee to enhance cooperation between the two sides and promote their strategic partnership, Kuwait’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Nasser Al-Sabah said in a virtual speech during the ceremony.

Trade exchange between the two countries stood at $364 million in 2020, while the Kuwaiti public sector’s investments in Egypt amounted to $5.4 billion and the Kuwaiti private sector’s investments exceeded $10 billion, according to Al-Sabah.

Meanwhile, more than 500,000 Egyptians work in Kuwait.
