“Lads, World Cup count down. Day 15 before starting our camp. Only with the same correct attitude we can succeed and fulfill the Egyptian Dream and reach our expectations and goals,” Queiroz wrote on his official Twitter account on Sunday.

Egypt, who are seeking to qualify for the World Cup for the fourth time in their history, will host Senegal for the first leg of the qualifying playoff on 25 March 2022 at Cairo International Stadium, while the second leg match will be held four days later at Stade Olympique de Diamniadio Stadium in the Senegalese capital of Dakkar.

“Keeping humble, being focused, and committed to Hard Work every single second of our lives, is the only winning formula that can drive us forward to Qatar,” the Portuguese coach added.

“Wish you all the best and good health. Don’t take it easy, don’t make it wrong, use this time to prepare and be better. Ready?” he concluded.

Last month, the Pharaohs lost to Senegal on penalties in the African Nations Cup final.

The 68-year-old coach took charge of the Pharaohs in September 2021, succeeding Hossam El-Badri, who was shown the door after a series of unconvincing performances.

The former Portugal, Iran, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia coach, Queiroz accepted the challenge, promising to do his best to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

"It is with pride, gratitude, and ambition that I accept the honorable invitation from the Egyptian FA to be the National Team Coach," Queiroz said after his appointment.

Egypt last took part in teh World Cup in Russia 2018.

"I want to express my commitment to use the best of my experience and knowledge to fulfill the goals and dreams of such a prestigious Football Country with passionate and dedicated supporters. To the future." Queiroz added at the time..
