The concert of the three-time Grammy award-winning band will be held during the upcoming celebration of the Muslim feast of Eid El-Fitr, which follows the holy month of Ramadan.
Although many fans are showing enthusiasm for the event, some have expressed disappointment over the ticket prices, which range from EGP 2,300 to EGP 5,000, describing them as “too expensive.”
Maroon 5 are throwing this gig in Egypt as part of a tour in the region that also includes performances in Abu Dhabi (6 May) and Tel Aviv (9 May).
Some have also criticised the band’s upcoming performance in Israel, urging them to reconsider performing.
“You might want to reschedule May 9 elsewhere. You don't look like a group who'd support Israel and their occupation of Palestine. Please reconsider,” Yas1, a Palestinian supporter, commented on Maroon 5’s announcement of their tour on twitter.
Maroon 5 have also performed frequently in UAE, with their last concert held before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019.
Currently consisting of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton and multi-instrumentalist and bassist Sam Farrar, Maroon 5, also known as Kara's Flowers, was formed in the 1990s in Los Angeles, California.
The multi-awarded band who topped the charts globally many times are most known for songs like ‘Sugar’, ‘Girl Like You’, ‘One More Night’, ‘Animals’, Moves Like Jagger’, ‘Don’t Wanna Know’, ‘Maps’, ‘What Lovers Do’, and most recently ‘Lost’ and ‘Nobody’s Love’.
