Indian embassy holds bicycle rally in Zamalek as part of AKAM celebrations

The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) and the embassy of India in Cairo organised a bicycle rally on 25 March 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebrations.

The event was organised by the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) and the Indian embassy in Cairo, according to an announcement by Indian Ambassador to Egypt Ajit Gupte last week.

The event took off at 9am from the embassy of India in Cairo, located on 5 Aziz Abaza Street in Zamalek.

The route of the bicycle tour traced the periphery of Zamalek Island.

The event intends to spread the message of the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, including daily exercise. It attracted about 100 cyclists from the embassy of India in Cairo and cycling clubs.

AKAM is an initiative of the government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. The celebrations started on 12 March 2021 and will last till 15 August 2023.
