Egyptian production company TVision stated on Monday that they will be suing a clothing company accusing them of not paying for the suits worn by the cast during the shooting of their latest production.
Rubbishing all allegations, TVision — owned by Tarek El-Ganainy — said they “will demand EGP 20 million in compensation for material and moral harms” caused by the allegation they described as “mudslinging” and “deceit” in a strongly-worded statement.
The show’s wardrobe items have been trending on social media in Egypt since Cairo’s fashion brand ORANGESQUARE stated in late Sunday that Suits’ production company still owes them EGP 2.7 million and that they are going to court to claim their rights.
Similar to the plot of the popular series, the two statements mentioned that prominent lawyers Kamal Shoaib and Hossam Lotfy will be representing ORANGESQUARE and Tvision, respectively.
The mutual war of words seems to appeal to hundreds of the show’s fans, who shared and commented on the two statements.
Currently airing on several Egyptian TV channels amid the high season of the holy month of Ramadan, the Arabic version of Suits stars Asser Yassin as a character that is an analogue to Harvey Specter, Ahmed Dawood as Mike Ross, Tara Emad as Rachel Zane, Reem Mostafa as Donna Paulsen, Saba Mubarak as Jessica Pearson, and Mohamed Shahin as Louis Litt.
Available on OSN and Watchit, the Suits Arabic remake is written by Mohamed Hefzy and Yasser Abdel-Meguid and directed by Essam Abdel-Hamid, with the music score written by Hisham Kharma.
