Suez Canal Economic Zone to produce 300k tonnes of green ammonia annually

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly attended on Wednesday the signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a project to annually produce 300,000 tonnes of green ammonia from green energy inside the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) in its first phase.

The MoU was signed by the General Authority for the SCZone, the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Co., the New and Renewable Energy Authority and a consortium grouping Total Energies and Egypt's Enara Capital.

The ceremony was also attended by Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker and Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala El-Said.

During the ceremony, the PM pointed out that the Egypt is working on supporting green economy transformation based on green energy, especially by granting facilities and incentives to attract green investments.

Madbouly added that the government aims to sign more MoUs in this field in accordance with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi’s directives.
