Madbouly made the announcement on Wednesday during chairing the seventh session of the Egyptian higher committee tasked with preparing for the COP27 conference.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Petroleum Minister Tarek El- Molla, Tourism Minister Khaled El-Anani, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad, and others.

During COP26 in Glasgow, Egypt launched the framework of its National Climate Change Strategy 2050.

The strategy focuses on five main objectives, including cutting emissions in various sectors to maintain sustainable economic growth, promoting the use of renewable energy sources, producing energy from waste, and using alternative energy forms like green hydrogen.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the COP27 president designate, said several initiatives in the fields of agricultural, energy, and water have been devised over the past period and expected to be launched on the sidelines of COP27.

Following the launch of the national strategy, Shoukry noted, Egypt could lure more funds to implement the Egyptian initiatives and projects, a cabinet statement said.

The website of the COP27 will be launched within days, Shoukry noted, pointed out that the promotional campaign of the international event has already been reviewed ahead of its introduction worldwide.

Sharm El-Sheik city has embarked on several projects in preparation for COP27, including increasing green spaces and promoting electric vehicles to lower carbon emissions.

Egypt has repeatedly affirmed that it will work through COP27 to enhance international action to handle climate change at all levels, achieve the goals of the Paris agreement, and support efforts to reduce emissions and provide funding for developing countries to deal with the phenomena.

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi has also asserted that Egypt will adopt a comprehensive and neutral approach during its presidency of the upcoming UN’s Conference.
