Burkina Faso defeated eSwatini 3-1 away from home to top Group B with a maximum six points, three points ahead of second placed Cap Verde, who defeated Togo 2-0 on Tuesday.
In Group H, Zambia bounced back from their 3-1 defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the Group opener to claim a 2-1 win at home over Comoros to keep their hopes alive in the qualifiers.
They now have three points on level with Cote d’Ivoire, who will visit Lesotho on Thursday.
The first two teams in the different groups will reach next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Cote d’Ivoire.
