The administration announced that Journalists’ Syndicate head Diaa Rashwan has been selected as the general coordinator of the dialogue called for by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in last April.

Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Mahmoud Fawzy has also been selected as the head of the technical secretariat of the dialogue.

As general coordinator, Rashwan will be responsible for facilitating with political and union forces to form a board of trustees for the dialogue, the statement said.

The board of trustees should comprise 15 members and include representatives of participating groups, public figures, and experts, the administration said.

“This should ensure effective participation and outcomes that are in line with the various national visions and interests of the Egyptian people,” the statement said.

Furthermore, more participants are expected, as the administration announced inviting “the largest possible number of representatives of the Egyptian social classes and institutions to conduct an effective national dialogue.”

“This aims to make sure that all the categories are represented in the societal dialogue and to ensure access to all regions of the republic in coordination with all partisan and youth political currents,” the statement said.

Those willing to participate in the dialogue or submit proposals and visions can still submit their requests at the National Youth Conference’s website.

The dialogue’s administration is also receiving proposals and inquiries via WhatsApp at 01025521555 - 0109388883.

During the annual Egyptian Family Iftar banquet on 26 April, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi assigned the National Youth Conference, which is organised by the National Training Academy (NTA), to conduct a political dialogue on the current national issues and deliver the outcomes to him.

El-Sisi promised during the banquet to attend the final stages of the dialogue, which is set to include “all political parties without any exceptions or discrimination.”

The NTA’s role is limited to organisational and logistical tasks for the dialogue, the statement affirmed. It noted that the academy “will not interfere in the content of the effective dialogue”, which is held under the umbrella of the “new republic.”

A technical secretariat from the NTA has been formed and is headed by Fawzy to assist the board of trustees in the logistical and organisational process and to provide the information required for managing the dialogue.

The technical secretariat has submitted all participation requests and proposals to Rashwan prior to the start of the sessions, and details of all proposals will be announced during the coming days, the statement said.
