Egypt’s national team coach Ehab Galal will lead the team in the friendly against South Korea on Tuesday in what might be his last match at the helm of the Pharaohs.

The 54-year-old Galal, who was appointed in May, has just been in charge of Egypt for two games.

He led the Pharaohs to an unconvincing 1-0 win over Guinea in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers before conceding a humiliating 2-0 defeat against Ethiopia, drawing huge criticism.

The Egyptian Football Association president Gamal Allam has announced in a statement that they are looking into the CVs of foreign managers, and that a final decision would be made on Thursday.

Galal is facing a stern challenge against South Korea, not only because of the criticism, but also due to the long list of absentees such as Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny, Aston Villa's Trezeguet, Stuttgart winger Omar Marmoush and Ittihad of Jeddah defender Ahmed Hegazi.

He will also have to do without some of domestic-based assets, as Ahly duo Hamdi Fathi and Mohamed Abdel-Moneim and Zamalek duo Emam Ashour and Ahmed Fatouh have been ruled out with injuries.

The game will be held in a packed Seoul World Cup Stadium, as the organisers have announced that all the tickets for the 66,000-seat stadium are sold out.
