United Arab Emirates club Al-Ain is hoping to sign on-loan Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan on a permanent basis, the club's chief executive, Carlo Nohra, said Tuesday.
Gyan, who joined Al-Ain on loan from English Premier League club Sunderland in September 2011, scored 22 goals to finish last season as the UAE's league's top scorer.
Recent reports claimed that the 26-year-old would not return to Sunderland because he is enjoying his time in the Middle East.
"Regarding Gyan, there's nothing yet, but we are positive about him staying with us for a few more years. Things will become clear soon," Nohra was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
The Ghanaian international joined the Black Cats in summer 2010 from France's Rennes for a club record of £13 million.
