The 27-year-old Osman needed 25.95 sec to snatch seventh place alongside 62 other competitors from more than 200 countries, including USA, China, France and Sweden.

The 19th FINA World Championships is taking place in Hungary’s capital Budapest from 18 June till 3 July.

On Sunday, Farida Osman broke the 100 metre butterfly African record in Budapest with a time of 57.66 seconds.

She eclipsed the record set by South Africa's Erin Gallagher in 2019 with 57.67 seconds in South Africa.

Osman, who won the bronze medal in the 50 metre butterfly in the two previous editions of the World Championships, will feature in the 50m freestyle on Friday.

Meanwhile, Egyptian swimmer Abdel-Rahman Sameh finished 50th in heats of the 50 metre freestyle.

The 22-year-old Sameh failed to reach the semis as he needed 22.95 to finish in the late ranking as only the first 16 swimmers reach the next stage of the World Championship.
