“We are suffering from a dense league schedule. Leagues all over the world have already concluded, unlike the situation here in Egypt,” Ferreira said in the post-game press conference.
The Whites weathered a spirited comeback from Ceramica Cleopatra to secure a precious 3-2 win and temporarily bolster their lead at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table.
“The team includes several experienced players. We have managed to keep the lead till the last minute against a respectable and organised opponent,” the 76-year-old coach explained.
“I want to thank my players for their high spirit. Playing with Zamalek’s jersey is a massive undertaking, and the most important thing is to always win,” he concluded.
The White Knights currently sit at the top of the league table with a comfortable 51 points, five ahead of second-placed Pyramids FC — who played one game less — and seven clear of third-placed Ahly, who still have four matches in hand.
