Under the presidency of Shoukry and the UK's Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs Elizabeth Truss, the session will see political consultations and discussions about economic and commercial issues of mutual concern, a statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs read.

The meeting will be attended by British Minister of State for Trade Policy Penny Mordaunt.

The launch of the association council is meant to promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields, Ahmed Hafez, the spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said.

Shoukry will hold a host of bilateral meetings during his visit, Hafez added.
