Manchester United coach Alex Ferguson said on Sunday that the departure of Chelsea’s Ivorian striker Didier Drogba will come as a relief to their Premier League title challengers.

"When you think of the season he's just had, I must say it is a big boost for us that Drogba is leaving Chelsea," Ferguson was quoted as saying by Sky Sports

The 34-year-old striker, who helped Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League title in May after scoring a late equaliser against Bayern Munich before the Blues won on penalties, has completed a move to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua after spending eight years at Stamford Bridge.

"He scored that fantastic goal in the final with two minutes to go and his goalscoring record in the big games, in big finals, is incredible,” Ferguson added.

"As far as I was concerned, he won the Champions League for Chelsea."
