Marciniak will be joined by Polish assistants Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said.

A FIFA referee since 2011, Marciniak took charge of the 2018 European Super Cup clash between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as well as several games in last season's Champions League, including Chelsea v Real Madrid in the quarter-final return-leg.

He also officiated the FIFA Arab Cup semi-final between Algeria and Qatar late last year.

A fixture congestion that disrupted last season means that both Ahly and Zamalek are playing simultaneous Egypt Cup editions. Both sides reached the last 16 of the ongoing 2021-22 edition.

Zamalek will be eyeing a domestic double after winning the Egyptian Premier League last season. Ahly are seeking to add an Egypt Cup triumph to the Champions League title they clinched last term.
