Prior to this, her latest film was Laf W-Dawaran with Ahmed Helmy in 2016. Now, the elder daughter of late comedy icon Samir Ghanem is uniting with Hisham Maged in a Synergy and Roznama production.
Directed by Khaled El-Halafawy and written by Sherif Nagib, Tasleem Ahaly featurs a number of comedy actors like Shiko, Bayoumi Fouad, Ahmed Fathy and Amr Wahba as well as Mohamed Mamduh and Lucy.
However, the appearance of Donia’s mother in the film has caused a wide emotional reaction from fans. It was shot before the tragic deaths of both Donia’s parents Samir Ghanem and Dalal Abdel-Aziz last year due to complications from COVID-19, which forced Donia and her comedian sister Emmy to stay out of the public eye for months.
Donia has, in recent years, proved her excellent talent in such an outstanding variety of roles across various genres in both cinema and TV, as well as singing a collection of popular songs.
The 37-year-old shot to fame as a teenager through her memorable role as Nada in the 2001 TV hit Lel-Aadala Wogoh Kathierah, leading to a number of successful TV appearances shortly after that paved her way to appearing in cinema.
She quickly took up leading roles alongside some of the biggest cinema stars in comedy/romance hits like Yana Ya Khalty with Mohamed Henedy, X-Large and Laff W-Dawaran with Ahmed Helmy, 365 Youm Saada with Ahmed Ezz.
At the same time she also proved her acting talent in tragedies with distinguished appearances in films like like Cabaret and Sameh Abdel-Aziz’s El-Farah.

By the late 2000s, Donia paired with actor Ahmed Mekky to create some of the two stars' most important comedy films; Teer Enta and La Taraga Wala Esteslam, in addition to dominating multiple TV seasons with the El-Kebeer Awi series.
After Mekky's era, she confirmed her place as one of the most favored TV stars, especially during Ramadan season, by branching out into singing and dancing in successive smash hits Lahfa, Nelly W-Sherehan, Fil Lala Land and Badal El-Hdaoutah Talata.
The multi-awarded Donia has become a successful singer too with pop hits like Qesset Sheta, Elwaet Be Yesraena, Wahda Tanya Khales, Ana Wenta Lebaad, Mosh Adra Assadda as well as her latest song Kol Haga.
This summer has been notably successful for Egyptian cinema, with multiple hit films in the Eid El-Adha season like Kira & El-Gin, Bahebak (“I Love You”) and Amohom (“Their Uncle”), in addition to upcoming El-Gawahergy of Mohamed Henedy and Akhy Fawk El-Shagara of Ramez Galal among other films.
