The network will be used to transport goods between ports and governorates, in addition to serving new and existing urban and industrial areas, El-Wazir added.

The minister’s statement came during an inspection tour of the High-Speed Train Network Project that will run from Ain El-Sokhna to Helwan and pass through the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

The project’s 660-km first line includes 22 stations and is expected to move at a speed of 250 km/h, the minister said.

It will transport one million passengers and 8,500 tons of goods daily, he added.

Furthermore, the minister and all the employees of the transportation ministry sent President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi their well-wishes on the anniversary of the July 23 Revolution, pledging to work around the clock to deliver all transportation projects on time.
