The government had previously announced in August 2021 that it would soon launch a strategy to promote this important type of tourism in Egypt in line with the directives of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

The draft law stipulates that the Maritime Transport Sector would be in charge of implementing and upgrading the yacht tourism strategy.

Moreover, under the draft law, an online platform titled "Single-Window for Yacht Tourism" would be created and run by the transport ministry, which will be the only body responsible for finalising the procedures for the entry and exit of tourist yachts.

The government also decided to issue a single invoice valid throughout the country’s ports and marinas as part of a broader strategy to optimise yacht tourism.

A national plan has been implemented since August 2021 to raise the efficiency of existing ports and marinas as well as to construct new ones in areas important to tourism.

In parallel, the government is also set to launch a marketing plan to boost yacht and ship tourism in Egypt.

Egypt’s geographical position makes it attractive for yacht tourism, with 995 kilometres of coastline on the Mediterranean Sea, 1,1941 kilometres of coastline on the Red Sea, in addition to the Nile River that runs the length of the country.
